MAIN INGREDIENTS

Yorsh is a popular Russian mixed beverage made with a combination of beer and vodka. The ratio of ingredients may vary depending on personal preferences. After the ingredients have been combined, it is recommended to drink the cocktail quickly, as is the custom in Russia, because Yorsh is traditionally consumed in social settings after a toast.

Although vodka does not alter the flavor of beer that much, it greatly increases the alcohol content in the cocktail, so it is quite suitable if one wants to get drunk as fast as possible.

Karsk is an aromatic Norwegian cocktail that is traditionally served hot. It is made with a combination of coffee and moonshine. To prepare it, a small coin is traditionally placed on the bottom of the cup, which is then filled with strong, hot coffee until the coin is completely covered.

The moonshine is then added to the cup until the coin resurfaces. There is also a variation on Karsk made with vodka instead of moonshine. The name of this cocktail is derived from the adjective karsks, which means vigorous in Old Norse.

Bombeirinho is a Brazilian cocktail that is usually taken as a shot. In its basic form, the drink combines cachaça (Brazilian sugarcane spirit) and redcurrant syrup. To make the drink, a shot of cachaça is topped with a splash of syrup.

Another popular variation consists of cachaça, redcurrant syrup, lime juice, and lemon juice. To prepare it, the ingredients are shaken or mixed with ice, and the combination is then strained into an ice-filled glass. Bombeirinho translates as fireman.

Vesper or Vesper Martini is a cocktail made with three shots of dry gin, one shot of vodka, and half a shot of Kina Lillet (nowadays known as Lillet Blanc), a dry French vermouth. It was invented by Ian Fleming, when it was mentioned in his first James Bond novel, Casino Royale, published in 1953.

In the novel, agent 007 orders it in a deep champagne goblet, well-shaken with ice, and garnished with a large slice of lemon peel. The cocktail is named after a female agent Vesper Lynd, who turned out to be a double agent at the end of the novel.

Snowball is a British cocktail made with a combination of Advocaat egg liqueur, lemonade, and lime juice. In order to prepare it, lemonade and lime juice should be poured into a cocktail glass over ice, followed by Advocaat, which will typically sink to the bottom, so all it needs is a bit of stirring to become integrated with the other ingredients.

It is recommended to garnish the cocktail with a lime slice or a lime twist. Snowball is especially popular during the festive Christmas season, and it is believed that it originated in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

Boilermaker is an American beer cocktail that consists of beer and a shot of whiskey. There are a few ways of serving Boilermaker - with beer as a chaser taken after a single gulp of hard liquor, or as a shot of whiskey poured into the beer, which speeds up the effects of alcohol on human body.

When beer is consumed as a chaser, the beverage is commonly known as Shot and Beer, while a shot dropped into the beer is referred to as Depth Charge or Bomb Shot. While the exact origin of Boilermaker is still unclear, it is believed that the cocktail dates back to the early 1800s, when it was a favorite cheap drink of the American working class, hence the name.

Kopstootje is a Dutch drinking ritual which can be found in almost every bar in the country. First, the bartender fills a tulip-shaped shot glass with Genever (old world gin) to the point where it almost overflows. The customers then place their hands behind their back, bend over, and slowly slurp the top off of the shot.

The rest of the shot can be gulped down, followed by a sip of beer served on the side. The flavors complement and enhance one another while remaining distinctive, without masking the other flavor.

White Lady is an English cocktail made with a combination of gin, triple sec, and fresh lemon juice. In order to prepare it, all ingredients should be shaken with ice, then strained into a large cocktail glass. Many people like to add egg whites and sugar syrup when making the cocktail, which can be garnished with a lemon zest twist, if desired.

There are two theories about the origin of White Lady – one says that Harry MacElhone prepared the first version at London’s Ciro’s Club in 1919, when it consisted of equal parts triple sec, crème de menthe, and lemon juice, and the version we know today was also made by MacElhone in 1929 at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, while the other theory says the cocktail was invented in the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel in London by Harry Craddock, who supposedly named the drink after Zelda Fitzgerald, a platinum blonde.

Similar to the Jäger Bomb and Boilermaker, Irish Car Bomb is a shot cocktail made by dropping a shot of Irish cream and whiskey into a glass filled with stout beer. The cocktail is traditionally chugged right after the shot is dropped into the glass.

For the best experience, it is recommended to use Guinness beer, Baileys cream, and Jameson whiskey. Despite its name, Irish Car Bomb is an American cocktail, so do not even try ordering it in Ireland, as it could get you thrown out of the pub pretty easily.

TasteAtlas food rankings are based on the ratings of the TasteAtlas audience, with a series of mechanisms that recognize real users and that ignore bot, nationalist or local patriotic ratings, and give additional value to the ratings of users that the system recognizes as knowledgeable. For the “100 Worst Rated Cocktails in the World” list until April 19, 2025, 7,945 ratings were recorded, of which 6,293 were recognized by the system as legitimate.
