The World Whiskey Masters - Gold
2022
Forty Creek Confederation Oak Reserve is a Canadian whisky that reflects the distillery’s commitment to innovation and quality. After carefully blending three individually aged grain whiskies, the final spirit is further matured for up to two years in barrels crafted from Canadian oak.
This native oak, known for its tighter grain due to Canada’s cooler climate, imparts a rich and complex character to the whisky. Visually, it shows a deep, old gold hue with pronounced legs in the glass. On the nose, it offers evolving aromas of maple syrup, raisins, vanilla, fig, praline, banana, buttercream, honeyed nuts, and orange blossom, with lingering hints of dried dark fruit and anise.
Forty Creek Whisky is a Canadian distillery located in Grimsby, Ontario, renowned for its innovative approach to whisky making. Founded in 1992 by John Hall, an experienced winemaker, the distillery has set new standards in the Canadian whisky industry.
One of Forty Creek’s key innovations is the separate fermentation, distillation, and aging of different grains—corn, rye, and barley—before they are carefully blended. This unique method allows each grain to contribute its own character to the final flavor profile.
In 2014, Forty Creek became part of the Campari Group, enabling the brand to expand into international markets. Despite the change in ownership, the distillery remains committed to quality and innovation, as reflected in accolades such as “Whisky Maker of the Decade” at the Canadian Whisky Awards in 2020.
