Watercress | Local Vegetable From United Kingdom | TasteAtlas

Watercress

Watercress is a leafy vegetable with deep green leaves and crisp stems that is incredibly versatile in cooking, filled with vitamins and minerals. Due to its high mustard oil content, watercress has a strong, slightly bitter, peppery, hot taste.

Although it is very low in calories, watercress is a very micronutrient rich food. Interestingly, only a cup of this salad contains 100% recommended daily intake of vitamin K. It is also abundant in vitamins A and C. Watercress is frequently used in a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, soups and sauces, or it can even be mixed with pasta or stir-fried.
