"It must be noted that technically, Drewes’ product is not ice cream. It is frozen custard, meaning it is egg rich and ultra creamy. There’s nothing more purely dairy-delish than vanilla, but you can mix it with your choice from a list of dozens of different flavoring agents from chocolate and strawberry to fudge, cherries, cookies, nuts, and candy bars."

"Kopp's has three locations that are always teeming with custard-hungry crowds and their butter burgers are legendary. The folks to beat in the custard game."

"Milwaukee's oldest custard stand (since 1938) makes a velvet-smooth product that is great as plain vanilla but can scale the heights when made into a bananarama or lalapalooza sundae."

"Leon's is THE Milwaukee custard stand and was one of the inspirations behind Arnold's on Happy Days."

"It’s got the best custard. The cinnamon, butter pecan, and raspberry flavors are classic, and somehow it all tastes better under its neon lights. Any flavor custard here is great when you get it in one of the fresh, homemade waffle cones. They’re popular so there’s almost always an overeager teenager working the waffle irons and rolling the hot cones."
